Outdoor Learning Day: 3rd April 2013
The nursery held an Outdoor Learning Day during the holiday playscheme. Despite strong winds a fantastic time was had by all!
The children enjoyed shelter building, making hobby horses, water channeling, a troll kitchen, making a fort from sticks and natural picture frames. The strong winds meant that putting up a shelter was a challenge, but that did not stop some of the boys testing the wind by pulling the rope to secure them in place. “I am definitely stronger than the wind” said one child whilst building the shelter.
The children enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies whilst they warmed up!
The day also included a visit from the settings Early Years Advisor, Janey and Development Worker,Paula, they enjoyed supporting the children during their play. Paula especially enjoyed making a big blue sea with the tarpaulin, encouraging the children to experience the strength and sound of the wind whilst underneath it. Paula described staff and their enthusiasm towards outdoor learning as “an inspiration to the early years”.
At the end of the day the children enjoyed a story whilst sitting outside in their shelter.
A wonderful outdoor learning experience!
