Spring has Sprung at Stepping Stones!
This week the children have enjoyed working in the Spring sunshine. They have been busy creating a ‘Bug hotel’.
Not only did the children make a ‘Bug hotel’ but they also planted a ‘Bumble bee cafe’. The children have been busy planting a selection of plants to attract bumble bees. We must thank Mr Butler for building us the lovely planter last Summer – “Thank You Mr Butler”.
What a lovely week we have had!
World Book Day.
We have spent the week celebrating World Book Day. The children have dressed up as characters from books by Julia Donaldson, including The Gruffalo, What the Ladybird Heard, The Smartest Giant in Town and Sharing a Shell.
Each day the children have participated in activities relating to Julia Donaldson’s books. They loved reading The Gruffalo outside under the trees.
The children then went on to make The Gruffalo using natural materials.
The children even painted The Gruffalo!
We all enjoyed acting out the story of What The Ladybird Heard, through small world play.
Some lovely ladybirds were painted.
We all enjoyed making Gruffalo crumble for our snack!
Even the staff dressed up as their favourite characters!
We have been lucky enough to receive a Sensory Suitcase. The suitcase contains a large selection of sensory equipment including, a bubble tube, projector, mirror ball, fibre optic wires, light up balls and mirrors.
The children have loved using the equipment. It has provided the nursery with a calm and quiet area to enjoy the colours, patterns, textures and visual images that children can experience by using the equipment.
